Any tricks to get into a 21+ casino?
I’m heading to a casino with a bunch of buddies which are all 21+ years. I’m the only one underage and I want to know if there are any tricks to sneak in and play. I do not have a fake ID and am not planning to get one. I can use my friend’s ID (hopefully), but what happens if they card us both at the same time? Do they hand out those 21+ year old bracelets in Tahoe casinos?
All the previous answers are correct about it being stupid to even try. In addition to doormen many casinos expect their dealers to ID anyone they think might be too young, just as a backup. But, having said that:
Dress nice, and a little on the conservative side. Slacks or khakis, and a shirt that has a collar of some sort. Nothing that says “Spring Break ‘08″ or a college affiliation. Dress like an adult, but not a kid trying to dress like an adult. Leave the suit at home. Think business casual, or what you might wear to church.
Shave. Some kids think that a couple days of stubble, or a beard, will make them look older. All it does it make the doorman/dealer wonder who this hobo is and why he wants to come in.
If you use your friend’s ID, and it gets challenged, DO NOT make an issue out of it. Admit defeat and walk away. With the ID if possible, if not then just take off. If you do decide to try his ID then make sure to memorize the information as well as his astrological sign and birthstone.
If you’re in a large group, try positioning yourself towards the back, although not the very last guy. Wait for another large group to come in ahead of you, when the doorman will be very busy. Then just use your own ID. I know, it doesn’t even say that you’re 21. But some guys just look at you, the picture, and figure nobody would be dumb enough to hand them an ID that shows they’re underage.
Your strategy needs to be one of blending into the background. You don’t want to call attention to yourself in any way. You won’t “sneak” in. And you probably won’t get in regardless. But if you’re calm, civilized, and don’t make the doorman look at you twice, you just might slide in under his radar. And if you do get inside, don’t get sloppy drunk.

The Roots of Reno $16.99 The town of Reno grew into “The Biggest Little City in the World” with the help of four casino pioneers: Nick Abelman, Bill Graham, Jim McKay, and George Wingfield. These men of the green cloth took the millions they dug up in Central Nevada boomtowns like Tonopah and Goldfield, and settled into Reno and Lake Tahoe Nevada to change the face of casinos forever. Long before Bill Harrah ever heard… |
